  • PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ALL CLASSES STATED TIME LIMITS MUST BE OBSERVED. OVER RUNNING WILL BE PENALISED.
  • CLEAN COPIES OF PIECES MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE STEWARD’S TABLE AS THE PERFORMERS ARE CALLED.
  • The ‘Bess Fowler Trophy’ is awarded in 2014 to a promising performer in the Speech and Drama Section to hold for one year. This trophy is awarded to a different section each year.

Time limit – not less than 3 mins or more than 5 mins.
Competitors are invited to present a personal project. Visual aids may be used.

2 RECITAL PROGRAMME Open to any age
Not to exceed 7 minutes.
A 20 minute programme from the works of any poet to be prepared and submitted to the Speech and Drama Secretary by 28th February 2014.
One poem or excerpt from a poem to be spoken from memory (Time limit 3 mins).
The adjudicator will choose another poem from the programme for the competitor to read aloud.
The quality and balance of the programme will be taken into account.
The competitor will be required to give a short appreciation of the poet's style and work to the audience. (Time limit 4 mins).
