Section Notes

Please read the rules of the Festival and Vocal Section carefully.

This year the age of entrants is at 1st March 2018.

You may enter any class as a non-competative entrant. See Rule 14 of the Vocal Rules.

Performances must not exceed 4 minutes and song(s) are the competitor's own choice.

Light Opera (Class 1v)

Can include Gilbert & Sullivan. Must be sung in the original key. Not to exceed 4 minutes.

Music Theatre (Class 2v)

Not to exceed 4 minutes. Costumes, props and movement are encouraged in this class. Entrants are reminded that they are solely responsible for ensuring they have the permission of the copyright holder to use costumes, props or movement for songs that are not in the public domain. The Bristol Festival Committee accepts these entries on the basis that the appropriate copyright permission has been obtained. Performers or teachers with queries on how to deal with this are referred to The British and International Federation of Festivals for Music Dance and Speech, of which Bristol Festival is a member.

Not to exceed 4 minutes. Own Choice from Victorian and Edwardian eras. (1840-1940). Date of the song must be clearly stated on the copy handed to the adjudicator.
