Bristol Festival of Music Speech and Drama was formerly known as the Bristol Eisteddfod and was founded in 1903 by Mr W Fowler.
It provides a variety of competitive and some non-competitive classes for all ages from as young as 4 years and from all walks of life and educational background. 
Classes are provided in:
  • Harps
  • Instrumental (Brass, Guitar, Strings and Woodwinds)
  • Organ
  • Piano
  • Recorders
  • Speech and Drama
  • Vocal 
The festival is held in various Bristol venues through the 3 - 4 weeks leading up to the end of the Spring Term. The classes are judged by professional adjudicators who give verbal and written adjudications. Medals and/or Trophies are awarded to the majority of winners with certificates of attainment to other performers.
The organisation is run by volunteers who give freely of their time and expertise. It is a non-profit making registered charity always grateful for financial support and sponsorship.
